Tackling cultural change with sensitivity
LTT respects the many different cultures of the many different people who live in Tanzania, and we know it is not our place to try to influence certain culturally sensitive issues. As a group outside the community, we acknowledge that the intricacies of the local cultures are far beyond our comprehension. If change is desired, it must be tackled tactfully, respectfully and from within the community.
For this reason, we support the Girl Guides of the Manyara Region, and in particular the work they do to tackle cultural issues affecting girls and women in the community.
With the aim of helping develop self-esteem and confidence, we have also linked the Girl Guides with the Girls4Girls programme, run by Inspire-Worldwide. To read about the last trip and the impact it had, click HERE
