Street Busines School - Women's Cohort Graduate with flying colours

Change comes about when you want it to come about and only you, as a person, can make that change. It is a positive decision. Which is why we celebrate the 17 fantastic women from the Daghailoy community who graduated from our Street Business School as the first women-only group of entrepreneurs in March 2021.

These women are so passionate about their businesses, which they are building up around their already busy lives.

Take Barika for example, through the training she has recognised what she was doing wrong in her business and made corrections…

I see things completely differently! I have so much hope for the future and I am eager and want to do better and to improve.” Barika’s income has increased by 50%.

Valerian, on the other hand, never had a business before but after the first 3 months of training she established a small cafe where she now sells chapati, tea, milk, and a lunch time meal. Her business is going well, and she wants to broaden her menu.

Of course, we are celebrating the success of each woman and the impact that she will bring to her home, not just in terms of extra income for food and school fees etc. but also for being role models to those around them. These women will inspire their children, their neighbours. None are sitting around waiting for change, they are making it happen for themselves.

While we celebrate these extraordinary women, it has also been a year since the last cohort graduated so we caught up with them too.

It is so clear that through this training programme people are learning the skills and gaining confidence to reach towards their potential.
