Malangi Community lay the foundations for four teachers houses
For schools in the rural areas one of the greatest challenges is to retain the teaching staff. Schools in Tanzania are required to provide accommodation for teachers at their schools. Houses can motivate teachers while poor ones or none at all can lead to disenchantment. If teachers have to travel long distances by public transport, they can easily be late through no fault of their own, and may leave early. They can’t take on other school responsibilities such as extra lessons, after school clubs or engage in school income generation activities. In worst case scenarios they may leave and place further burden on the school.
The Malangi community recognise this problem and have started to build the foundations to 4 teachers houses that could accommodate 8 single teachers.
LTT is delighted to be supporting them in this project and as soon as the community have made their contributions we will carry on with our commitments.
