Coronavirus Update

Since the middle of 2020 the Tanzanian Government have not been testing the population for the virus and have instead been relying on strength of belief combined with steam rooms and traditional medicines. Any talk of taking vaccines was met with scepticism and suspicion.

Early in 2021 a number of high profile deaths challenged the existing though processes and the government started to once again ask the population to take precautions such as hand washing, mask wearing, social distancing and shielding the most vulnerable.

After the death of President Magafuli, President Hassan asked for a committee of experts to examine the state of the pandemic and advise what should be done. this report has now been presented to Parliament and is being considered. This is a big step and we are encouraged by the progress.
