Progress at Sawe Primary School - Classrooms 8&9

Keeping you up to date on Sawe classrooms 8&9 is like chasing a rabbit, it moves so fast !!

It is so exciting to be working with donors and community members who are so determined to improve the education of the children in this community. Education is the foundation of all that follows, so it makes sense that it is the best foundation possible.

Progress timetable

1st September - The windows and doors have been added throughout and the builders have started to plaster inside the classrooms.

Mid August - The walls are built to the roofing level. The roof rafter are built, treated for termites and hoisted on to the walls and secured and the roofing sheets are added to make the structure waterproof.

1st August - The community have completed their commitment in record time and have built to the 2nd lintel. The building is handed over to LTT to complete the work.

Mid July - The community have been mobilised and the foundations are dug. Big stones from the local quarry have been supplied by the community and placed in the foundations which together with iron rods and cement have been finished with the assistance of the builder. Town engineer has visited and approved so the walls start to be built. The bricks to the upper lintel are provided by the community as the 2nd part of their contribution. There are two lintels, one below and one above the windows, each have metal rods and cement which strengthens the building.

1st July - Community given the green light that the project is on and, together with the builders and the town engineers start to mark our the ground for the foundations
