Catherine visits Finland
Catherine went through our Student Sponsorship Programme and decided to become a social worker. This is her report from her recent trip and we are super proud of her.
In 2022 -2023 I had chance to voluntary participate on International professional exchange program which was held in, Finland, and Estonia, it was a program where Social Workers met from worldwide and exchange the practical and theoretical skills of social work profession in their working settings. Other participants were from Indian, Estonia, Italy, Spain, Ankara, and Argentina.
With this opportunity I have learnt about elder’s service, Migration services, women and girls’ services, people with disabilities, Immigrants services, culture differences.
Experienced in how NGO and INGO work closely with other stakeholders including the Government Authorities at National, municipals, Counts and community levels.
Experienced in health-related/community development projects.
I had time to learn about culture differences and learnt about internal and external partnership.
I had chance to conduct presentation for the work done by social worker in Tanzania and challenges.
Experience on working on adolescent & youth sexual reproductive health.
Experienced on women and girls’ gender-based violence related services.
I had chance to meet with Ukrainian, Sudanese and Somalia refugees’ group and learn how conflict affected that group.
Through this opportunity I have worked with Argentina, Türkiye, Spain, Italy, India, Germany, and Estonia members on how to create peace in the world and serving refugees globally.
It is my dream to be an international social worker and grab more opportunities of working abroad. The trip was a little bit tough since I was supposed to cover flight cost ,Visa cost but I made it and I know whenever ill get more other international opportunity ill manage to do it professionally.
